The “Toolbox for Early Career Scientists” workshop is designed to provide early career scientists (ECS) a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge to navigate the complex world of scientific research, funding, mentorship, and the art of delivering an effective elevator pitch. Participants are invited to join the “Toolbox for Early Career Scientist” workshop to equip themselves with the essential skills and resources required for a successful scientific career. Whether they are at the outset of their academic journey or aiming to enhance their research skills, this workshop is the gateway to a brighter future in the world of science. Workshop Content: 

1. Unlocking Funding Opportunities provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
   
   Sherif Azab-Els from the DAAD headquarter in Germany will provide insights into the diverse range of scholarships, grants, and funding opportunities. The participants will particularly learn how to navigate the application process for master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral research.

2. The Power of Mentorship
   
   Johanna Orellana, the director of the PROMEMCI mentoring program, showcases the importance of mentorship in shaping academic and research journeys. Participants will understand how mentorship relationships can lead to new opportunities, offer guidance through academic challenges, and provide valuable career development advice.

3. Perfecting Your Elevator Pitch
   
   In this hands-on exercise, guided by Alicia Correa and Björn Weeser from the SDGnexus Network, attendees will develop the essential skill of crafting a compelling elevator pitch. Whether explaining their research, introducing themselves to potential collaborators, or seeking opportunities, a concise and engaging elevator pitch is crucial. This session will provide practical guidance and opportunities to refine their pitch, ensuring they can confidently convey their message in a concise and impactful manner – and practice their pitch in the further cures of the conference.
